Justin Grassi joined the 2-11 (ABN) Spartan H2F staff at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in 2023 as a Strength and Conditioning Coach after serving in the same role for the past year with 1AD CAB At Fort Bliss. He spent four seasons with Baylor Baseball serving as the Director of Operations and Player Development. At Baylor he also interned with the Athletics Performance staff at the graduate and undergraduate level designing and implementing training programs for the Equestrian team while assisting with Baseball and Track and Field. While at Baylor Grassi also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences. He was the Teacher of Record during the 2017 and 2018 academic years for Beginning and Intermediate Weight Training, Adaptive Lifetime Fitness for students with injuries and disabilities, and Fitness Theory and Practice.
Prior to working at Baylor Grassi served in the US Navy Reserve for 8 years. While serving he deployed with Coastal Riverine Squadron TEN in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and again in 2013 with Coastal Riverine Squadron ONE in support of Operation Vigilant Mariner. He was honorably discharged in 2016 as a Master-At-Arms First Class with Expeditionary Warfare Specialist designation.
Grassi holds a Master’s in Sport Pedagogy from Baylor (2018), a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a concentration in Kinesiology from Baylor (2017) and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Florida Gulf Coast (2014). Grassi is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), USA Weightlifting (L1 SPCC), National Academy of Sports Medicine (CES), CrossFit (Level 1 Trainer), US Army Public Health Command (P3T EL), Streamlined Performance (Level 2 Tactical Swim).
Grassi, his wife Jennifer and their three dogs Navi, Cohiba, and Doughboy reside in Eagle River, AK.
